Serpentine (green) with stichtite inclusions (purple)
Other names for the mineral are atlantasite or atlantisite.
Stichtite was first found and described in 1910 on the west coast of Tasmania (Australia) by A.S. Wesley, a chemist from a mining company. The mineral was named after Robert Carl Sticht (1856 - 1922), the manager of the mine. Spellings such as stichite or stichite are therefore incorrect.
