Sphalerite Wurtzite is an optically very attractive mixture of Sphalerite (Zinc Blende) and Wurtzite. The gemstone was given its name in 1800 by the Berlin Oberbergrat Dietrich Ludwig Gustav Karsten due to its shelly structure. The addition "blende" refers to the metallic component, which suggests lead by weight and appearance, but deceived the miner, dazzled him.

Other names for Sphalerite Wurtzite are Strahlblende or Leberblende.

In gemstone healing, Sphalerite Wurtzite is important for mastering dramatic changes creatively and productively. Obsolete structures can be renewed more easily.
