The violet hearts made of amethyst (B quality) are approx. 3.0 - 3.5 cm in size.
The dark gray matrix can be seen on the back of the amethyst hearts, while the typical crystal turf (druzy) of the mineral can be seen on the front.

The name amethyst is derived from the Greek word amethystos (counteracting intoxication) and refers to the traditional belief that an amethyst protects against the intoxicating effects of wine and other alcohol. Spellings such as Amathyst, Amethist, Ametist, Ametyhst, Ametyst, Amnethyst, Amthyst or Amythist are therefore incorrect.
