Pietersite is valued in analytical stone healing according to Michael Gienger, as it helps to keep a cool head in confusing situations, to process impressions more quickly and to overcome conflicts, which has also earned the mineral the nickname "storm stone". Pietersite was first discovered in 1962 by mineral dealer Sidney "Sid" Pieters in Namibia (then South West Africa); the stone was named after him. The spelling Petersite, Pieterisite or Pietersiet is therefore not correct.
