The decorative slab of star rhyolite weighs approx. 400 - 450g; size of the gemstone slab approx. 10 - 13 x 19 - 22cm.
The common trade name "star jasper" is not correct, as this is a young rhyolite rock. The brown groundmass is quartz and Feldspar, the white inclusions are also Feldspar. The mineralogically correct term is therefore star rhyolite.
Other names by which the mineral is referred to both wholesale and retail are Star Oregon Jasper or Star Oregon Jasper and Star Jasper as well as Flower Jasper and Starburst Jasper and Firework Jasper/Jasper.
