Amber is considered the Gold of the North and is one of the first gemstones in human history. Finds from the Stone Age show Amber with carved figures, the oldest Amber jewelry is about 30,000 years old. In ancient times, Amber was known to both Greek and Roman authors and myths have surrounded its origin and powers for thousands of years.
Amber has always been considered a special "stone", although it is not a stone in the conventional sense, but fossilized resin from various trees. The Baltic Sea region is the best known and largest localities of Amber. From there, it reached the whole of Europe via the most intricate trade routes in ancient times.
