A very special precious opal: Weloopal from Ethiopia!
The flat baroque stones from Ethiopian opal are between 05x07mm (at both ends) and 08x09mm (in the middle) in size; overall, the opal strands are significantly longer than normal strands with a length of 50cm.
This rarely found opal from the mountainous Semien Wollo region in northeastern Ethiopia has only been commercially available since the early 1990s. The stones fascinate by their bright, translucent color in combination with the typical colored sparkle of the opal.
White Welo opal is also called "light opal". In stone medicine, the mineral is used to strengthen the zest for life and to promote enthusiasm and creativity. A necklace threaded from the strand of Weloopal is therefore a great companion in creative everyday life!
