Ulexite - the "television stone
The crystalline structure of Ulexite leads to a special phenomenon: if the rough stones are cut across the fibers and then polished, underlying texts or images are projected onto the surface. This is made possible by the light-conducting transparency of the mineral. This phenomenon has also earned the stone the name "TV stone" or "TV rock".
Origin: California, USA
The stones are approx. 3 - 4 cm in size and are supplied packaged in a plastic case with a certificate card.
Ulexite was given its name in honor of the Hamburg chemist and mineralogist Georg Ludwig Ulex. Synonyms are television stone, television rock, TV stone and TV rock.
Ulexite is slightly soluble in water; even slight contact with water can lead to clearly visible traces on the stone.
