Fish dinosaur tooth in matrix from Morocco, approx. 80 million years old.
Size of the pieces approx. 7 - 10cm
Mosasaurs lived in the Upper Cretaceous, around 100 to 65 million years ago. Fossil finds all over the world suggest that the animals lived in the oceans worldwide. Today's living relatives of mosasaurs are snakes, lizards and double lizards - together they form the group of scaly crawlers.
Localities where this fossil was found are in central Morocco, near the town of Qued Zem on the "Plateau des Phosphates". Teeth and bones of prehistoric sea creatures can be found in these phosphate-containing rocks. Localities today are located in the middle of the Sahara desert, but during the lifetime of the mosasaurs in the Upper Cretaceous period there was an extensive sea. The polar ice caps had melted due to warm tropical temperatures and the sea level was significantly higher than it is today.

Minerals and gemstones for collecting and gifts: Mosasuarian tooth

Hello! My name is Marco Schreier, founder of the Mineralienhandlung GmbH of the same name, a specialist wholesaler for minerals, fossils, gemstones, tumbled stones, collector's objects and gift items made of stone. In the year 1998 I founded the brand Maulwurf Geschenke aus der Natur® in order to combine our product range for resellers, museum shops, dealers and other commercial users of the precious stones with our quality guarantee.
You will only receive mineralogically correctly identified stones from us, which promote the joy of collecting and experiencing the precious treasures of nature. Treatments such as coatings or coloring are always declared. Our own production in Asia guarantees the best quality at attractive wholesale prices and fair and transparent product procurement. I personally vouch for this.
