Tsesite is iron ore that is covered with a dark coating due to desert varnish weathering.
This coating Occurs due to the reaction of the ore with blown clay under the influence of moisture (evaporating capillary water or morning dew).
Size of the tsesite approx. 5 - 7cm, weight approx. 200 - 400g.
Place of discovery: Namib Desert (Namibia) near the eponymous village of Tses.
Desert ores were historically used on a small scale for iron extraction and as amulets and
