Chinese lucky symbol for protection and long life: Sagittarius
The turtle has a central position in the Chinese tradition of special auspicious symbols. As one of the four divine carriers of the cardinal points, the turtle stands for the north, the direction of strongest yin energy. The north is associated with night, the season of winter, rest and regeneration.
In other mythological traditions, the tortoise appears as a great helper. It is said to have helped the first emperor to tame the yellow river. Its real longevity also makes it the ideal symbol for a long life.
Size of the animal engraving: approx. 10 cm long, approx. 7.5 cm high.
The animal figurine has been carved from one piece of snowflake obsidian.
