The god of luck Ganesha is asked for advice when you need luck and success at the start of a new project or want to ask for good luck in the course of a path or project. Ganesha stands for beginnings and new beginnings; he embodies wisdom and intelligence. Ganesha statues can be found in many Hindu homes, stores and offices; Ganesha is considered the lord of science and the god of commerce.
Ganesha is usually depicted as a man with an elephant's head and several arms, sitting on a lotus flower. The many arms are seen as a sign of virtuosity, of superior (divine) power.
Selenite was already known to the Romans and was used as a window pane instead of glass, as Glass could not yet be made flat and transparent at that time. In the encyclopaedia "Naturalis historia", Pliny the Elder (23 - 79) described the mining and use of selenite. The Romans called the mineral "lapis specularis", i.e. "mirror stone". The name selenite is derived from the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene.
The animal engravings are varnished to protect them from dust and scratches.
