This feline representation is called Maneki-neko (Manekineko). Literally translated from Japanese, this means "inviting cat". The term waving cat or waving cat is also commonly used. Manekineko is a popular Japanese lucky charm and talisman in the shape of a cat sitting upright and beckoning to the observer.
