The very well polished balls of A-quality garnet have a diameter of 10mm. The whole garnet strand is about 40cm long.
The raw material for the balls comes from the well-known garnet locality in Xingjiang in northwest China.
Dark red garnet (Almandine) is used in stone medicine to support one's own ideas even against resistance and to energetically stand up for one's own wishes and needs. Hildegard von Bingen already dealt with the effect of garnet under the then common name carbuncle (Carbunkel).
