The elongated chips of green Kyanite are about 8mm long at the ends of the strand and about 25mm long in the middle. The crystals are lightly tommed and very comfortable to wear due to the "soft" edges.

The name disthene is derived from the Greek "this sthénos" (twofold strength, twofold power).
