Genuine oyster shell pearls are made from the nucleus of oyster shells. The Mother of Pearl from the oysters is ground into a fine powder, enriched with natural dyes and applied to the core (from this very shell) in a very complicated process. Because of this intricate manufacturing process, shell seed pearls are always perfectly round, have a wonderful luster, and are a cost-effective alternative to genuine Tahitian or South Sea pearls. Shell seed pearls are 100% organic and can be treated the same way as real pearls when it comes to care.
Shell pearl strands are approximately 40cm long and strung for transport. We recommend that you always replace the transport thread with suitable knotting material.
