The beads made from brightly colored pumice stone are reminiscent of lava due to their surface and light weight. This is why chain strands are often sold as colored lava or rainbow lava. However, it is actually colored pumice stone. Because it contains more quartz, pumice stone is significantly lighter than lava and can be easily colored. There are significantly more pores in pumice stone than in lava.
