A rarity as a gemstone necklace: green Kyanite!
The flat Tumbled Stones made of green Kyanite are about 6 to 18mm long. The disthene are complemented by small Findings made of rhodium-plated silver 925.
Length of the disthene necklace approx. 43cm plus 5cm extension chain; Clasp and extension chain are made of highly polished silver 925. Silver weight 2.6g.
In gemology, green Kyanite is valued for strengthening identity and instinct; overcoming resignation and promoting confident action.
The name disthene is derived from the Greek "this sthénos" (twofold strength, twofold power). This describes a quite unusual property of disthene: it exhibits - depending on the direction in the crystal - two very strongly differing hardnesses (so-called hardness anisotropy). Spellings such as Distin, Disthin or Disten have not become established in the retail and wholesale trade.
