Bead pendant in an unusual, contemporary shape!

The semicircular design pendant with the mabe pearl measures approx. 3.3 x 2.8 cm; inner diameter of the eyelet approx. 4 mm.

The domed cabochon with the pearl weighs approx. 27ct and measures approx. 27 x 25mm. The bezel setting and the eyelet of the pearl pendant are made from highly polished, gold-plated 925 silver; silver weighs 1.9g.

Mabé pearls are a special form of cultured pearls; they are also known as cultured shell pearls or cultured blister pearls.

Mabe pearls take their name from the mussel "Mabe-Gai" (Pteria penguin) in which they grow. Unlike many other pearls, the mabe pearl grows on the inside of the Mussel shell. This is how the typical shape of these pearls is formed: Flat on one side, semi-curved on the other; this is why this shape is also known as a half pearl. Pieces of jewelry in which the surrounding Mussel shell is used in addition to the actual pearl are also very attractive.
