This beautifully carved jasper comes from the mountains of Tasik Malaya in the west of Java (Indonesia).
The gemstone pendant measures approx. 5.5 x 2.2 cm.
Size of the rectangular cabochon approx. 40 x 22mm, stone weight 45ct. The red Jasper (red) is crowned by a yellow-gold Citrine (heated); this 4mm cabochon is set in a frame.
The cap and eyelet (inner diameter 6mm) are made of highly polished, rhodiniert silver 925; silver weight 4g.
The design with white spots that look like the claws of a dragon is very striking. The name "red scale jasper" is also derived from this.
This gemstone is extracted from a depth of around 20 - 30 meters using a hammer, drilling and a lot of manual work.
