Elegant pendant made of Mookaite is 3,3 x 1,5cm.
The navette shaped cabochon of Mookaite is set in frame, weighs 6.7ct and measures 20 x 15mm.
Zarge setting and bail (inner diameter 4.5mm) of the mookaite pendant are made of highly polished platinum plated silver 925; silver weight 2.8g.
The name "Mookaite" is derived from the mineral's largest discovery site in the Kennedy Range, about 1000km north of the Western Australian capital of Perth. Mookaite is mined there along Mooka Creek. "Mooka" means "flowing water" in the Aboriginal language and refers to the numerous springs in the area. Spellings such as Mokaite, Mokaid, Mokaait or Moukait are therefore incorrect. The only synonym for Mookaite at present is Australian Jasper.
