This animal engraving impresses with its infinite number of details that make the collar lizard look like it is alive.
The gemstone engraving is approx. 14 cm high including the base, the base stone has a base area of approx. 10 x 9 cm. Weight of the engraving approx. 1.4kg.
Among the Aborigines in Australia, the ruffed lizard has great significance: on the one hand, the animal is a sign of the zodiac (July 23 to August 22) and, on the other, an important totem animal that stands for the theme of responsibility for one's own actions in the Dreamtime.
The lizard was engraved from Sardonyx. Sardonyx is a historically significant gemstone, a layered stone from which multi-colored gems and signet rings were cut.
