The sphere is a symbol of the universe. It has no beginning and no end, no top and no bottom. The sphere embodies absolute harmony and stands for peace, balance and spiritual wholeness. Representations of the sphere appear in many variations throughout the cultural history of mankind - from the orb as a symbol of worldly power to the symbol of the sphere in the tarot as a sign of unity.
Size of the undrilled gemstone balls from Rhodonite: 15mm (calibrated)
The first scientific description of Rhodonite was made in 1819 by the German naturalist Christoph Friedrich Jasche. The pink color inspired Jasche to name it "Rhodonite," which is derived from the Greek word "rhodon" meaning rose or rose-scented. Occasional spellings like rhodonite, rodonite or rodonite are therefore not correct.
