Jewelry with chalcedony and Ocean Jasper - A diverse quartz family with a long tradition!
Marco Schreier Mineralienhandlung GmbH offers you jewelry with chalcedony and Ocean Jasper at wholesale prices - rings, pendants, necklaces and earrings, set in 925 silver.
Alongside jasper, chalcedony belongs to one of the large quartz families, which includes many different minerals such as Sardonyx, Chrysoprase, Carnelian, Sard, Moss Agate, Agate and Onyx. Their microcrystalline, fibrous, radial structure is typical. Chalcedony is a classic gemstone and has been used as a material for cameos, gems, ring stones and seal stones since ancient times. Large pieces were even used for columns, architectural decorations, table tops and vases.
Jewelry with chalcedony in various designs We stock jewelry with different varieties of chalcedony: rings with cut stones that show the banding or color, pendants in different shapes, finished necklaces with chalcedony beads and earrings as pendants or studs. All pieces are set in 925 silver, some additionally gold-plated or rhodiniert. The settings range from simple designs to elaborate silver work with ornamental elements. Some pieces focus on a single large stone, while others combine different varieties of chalcedony or add other gemstones. Ocean Jasper in particular, with its characteristic circular patterns, is often used as a solitaire stone.
Historical use and cultural significance In ancient times, chalcedony was used for weather magic and to treat weather-related problems. The Romans particularly valued chalcedony for signet rings and gems - cut gemstones with raised or recessed depictions. The hard, fine-grained chalcedony was ideal for detailed carvings, which can still be admired in museums today. This long tradition of stone carving makes chalcedony a culturally and historically significant material. From ancient cameos to modern jewelry, the timeless appeal of this quartz family is evident. The different varieties make it possible to cater to different aesthetic preferences - from the delicate transparency of blue chalcedony to the vibrant color of carnelian.

What are chalcedonies? Chalcedony is a microcrystalline quartz with a fibrous, radial structure. In contrast to coarsely crystalline quartz such as Rock Crystal or Amethyst, chalcedony consists of tiny crystal fibers that are invisible to the naked eye. This special structure gives them their characteristic translucency and makes them ideal for jewelry. The chalcedony family includes well-known stones such as carnelian, Chrysoprase, Sardonyx, Agate, Onyx and Moss Agate - each with its own color and pattern, but all with the same basic microcrystalline structure.
Chalcedony is formed primarily or secondarily from aqueous silica solutions at temperatures below 100°C. It is found as a vein, fissure or cavity filling in sediments, magmatites and metamorphites. If the solution is in motion during hardening, it shows a typical banding - in contrast, it is uniformly transparent when at rest. These different formation conditions explain the enormous variety within the chalcedony family. Carnelian shows orange-red to red-brown tones due to iron oxide inclusions. Chrysoprase owes its apple-green appearance to nickel compounds. Sardonyx combines white and brown bands, while Onyx typically has black and white layers. Ocean Jasper, also known as ocean agate, comes from Madagascar and shows roundish structures reminiscent of ocean currents or orbicules.
