The cross-drilled freeforms have been cut from bright, mostly transparent amethyst with inclusions and are about 3.5 - 4.5cm in size, the hole is about 2mm in size.
Bright amethyst is valued in gemstone healing for its effect to promote the themes of spirituality, clarification and meditation.
The name amethyst is derived from the Greek word amethystos (counteracting intoxication) and refers to the ancestral belief that with an amethyst one would be protected against the intoxicating effects of wine and other alcohol. Spellings such as Amathyst, Amethist, Ametist, Ametyhst, Ametyst, Amnethyst, Amthyst or Amythist are therefore incorrect.
