Blue quartz (dumortierite quartz) is valued in stone medicine, because the gemstone conveys lightness and calmness of mind - so strenuous phases can be coped with more easily.
Occasionally, the misleading designation sapphire quartz is also found for the blue quartz; a synonym for blue quartz is glaze quartz.
