Since 1995, "Stone Healing" has been regarded as THE standard work of modern stone healing. Previously published books always described the effect of healing stones within the framework of other systems (astrology, chakras, Hildegard medicine, etc.), "Stone Healing" broke away from this for the first time and showed that the nature and effect of the stones can be understood from within them! Results of the "Stone Healing Research Group Stuttgart" (1988 - 1993) had shown that the effect of healing stones is not arbitrary, but follows certain laws. The color, substance, structure and origin of a stone contribute to its healing effect in a consistent logic. This knowledge makes it possible to find exactly the right, personally suitable healing stone for a specific person in a specific life situation and with specific complaints. How this works is described in detail in "Steinheilkunde". This was revolutionary in 1995!

As "Steinheilkunde" also describes very clearly and vividly how healing stones work on a spiritual, emotional, mental and physical level, it is also a practical handbook, both for natural healing practice and for the personal use of healing stones. The combination of well-founded background knowledge with comprehensible descriptions of the effects (and of course the unique photos by Ines Blersch) made the book a bestseller: from 1995 to 2004, over 140,000 copies were sold in German-speaking countries and it was also translated into five other languages.

However, time has not stood still in the two decades since the publication of "Steinheilkunde": Further research and experience with healing stones deepened the understanding of their effects, new healing stones came onto the market and gained importance (ocean chalcedony, Shungite and others), and there were also groundbreaking findings in geology and mineralogy thanks to new methods of investigation. So it was time to update "stone healing"! And that is exactly what has now happened. The following has emerged:

1. the principles described in the first edition, published in 1995, as to how and why certain stones show certain healing effects, also proved to be correct in the light of new mineralogical and medical findings. This confirmed them all the more!
2. the healing effects of the stones determined from experience were also confirmed by new findings in geology. The principle "As the stones grow, so they work" has been clearly underlined, for example, by current research into the Occurrence of the stones.

The latest research results, which prove that the amethysts of southern Brazil and Uruguay are not of volcanic but secondary Occurrence, fit in much better with the known cleansing effect of these stones (the fight against foreign influences is part of the secondary principle of action). The fact that green aventurine quartz is a "sleep stone" is also more understandable now that it is known that this is a metamorphic rock (the issue of letting go is part of the metamorphic principle of action). Or the fact that the color of Rose Quartz is not caused by iron, manganese or titanium (as previously assumed), but by fine fibers of Dumortierite (also known as "take-it-easy stone"), makes its effect more understandable. There are many more examples of this kind, but in summary it can be said that the findings of the past two decades fully confirm modern gemstone healing and make the effect of the stones even easier to understand!

These findings have been incorporated into the new edition of "Steinheilkunde" from 2014. The book has also been expanded to include important new healing stones (Barite, Halite, Onyx Marble, Ocean Chalcedony, Purpurite, Shungite, Seraphinite, Tektite and others), and existing descriptions have also been deepened (e.g. Tourmaline). Thanks to the corrected mineralogical data throughout, the new edition is basically indispensable, especially for "analytical gemstone healing". The table for finding the personally suitable healing stone has also been revised and supplemented for this purpose. All (!) common healing stones can now be found on 29 instead of 13 pages (!)! The book has therefore been extended from 420 to 452 pages. So it's definitely worth buying the updated new edition! This classic was given a new cover in spring 2019.
