Greetings from Peru!
Size of the llama approx. 7 - 8 x 8 - 9 cm.
Llamas have a deeply rooted symbolic meaning in Peru, which goes back to the long history and culture of the Andean region. In Andean culture, llamas often have a spiritual meaning. They are associated with the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and symbolize the connection between man and nature. In some traditions, llamas are also used in ceremonial practices.
The animal engraving was intricately carved by hand from Huamanga, a special Alabaster. Piedra de Huamanga, also known as alabaster stone, is a geological sedimentary rock of volcanic origin. Huamanga is traditionally used for engravings and handicrafts.
