Fossils are the fossilized witnesses of the development of life on our planet. They are the preserved traces of animals or plants that colonized our earth millions of years ago. Special circumstances during deposition prevented the traces of life forms from disappearing. Resistant teeth, bones, shells and hard parts are the most likely to have survived the millions of years and fascinate us today with their special shape, rarity and age.
The fossilized shark teeth are evidence of the "fright shark" Otodus Obliquus, which made the primeval seas unsafe around 50-60 million years ago. Sharks have a cartilaginous rather than a bony skeleton. This is why there are hardly any completely preserved shark fossils, but mostly only teeth as traces of these creatures.
