The aragonites in this display look like little satellites from outer space. The text on the explanatory card encourages you to take a look at the atlas - where is Morocco, the country of origin of the aragonite clusters, and where is the province of Aragon, which gave the mineral its name? The explanatory text can be found on the card in four languages (German, English, French and Spanish).

The mineral aragonite was first described in 1796 by the German mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner and named after the Localities in the province of Aragon in northeastern Spain; the spelling arragonite is therefore not correct.
