This beautiful coelestindruse is about 18 x 13cm and weighs about 4.2kg.
The locality of the specimen is near Sakoany in the region of Boeny in the northwest of Madagascar. Even if there are worldwide occurrences of Coelestine and the mineral has even been detected on the moon, the bright blue Coelestines from Madagascar are considered the most beautiful.
In stone medicine Coelestine is important because of its stabilizing effect; with the help of the mineral it is easier to bring structure and order into thinking, planning and acting.
The mineral received its name from the well-known mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner (1749 - 1817), who derived it from Latin "coelestis" (sky blue). Occasionally also the spelling Cölestin, Zoelestin or Zölestin as well as the name Schützit or Schätzit and the English name Celestine can be found for the Coelestine. Occasional spellings like Celestien, Celestite, Choelestin or Colestin are not correct.
Coelestine was formed in the Tertiary about 65 million years ago in cavities and fissures of sedimentary rocks like limestone and marl.

Hello! My name is Marco Schreier, founder of the Mineralienhandlung GmbH of the same name, a specialist wholesaler for minerals, fossils, gemstones, tumbled stones, collector's objects and gift items made of stone. In the year 1998 I founded the brand Maulwurf Geschenke aus der Natur® in order to combine our product range for resellers, museum shops, dealers and other commercial users of the precious stones with our quality guarantee.
You will only receive mineralogically correctly identified stones from us, which promote the joy of collecting and experiencing the precious treasures of nature. Treatments such as coatings or coloring are always declared. Our own production in Asia guarantees the best quality at attractive wholesale prices and fair and transparent product procurement. I personally vouch for this.
